TAKE TEXAS BACK!
A bunch of thieves, thugs, and nutcases took over Texas. Then they used it as a stepping stone to Washington, DC.

They raided our treasury, stripped our schools and handed it all to their corporate cronies.

Y'all ready to do something about it?

Texas Republican Lawmakers Honor James O'Keefe

by: Libby Shaw

Wed Jan 27, 2010 at 18:34:17 PM CST

James O'Keefe, a conservative activist who had posed as a pimp in order to set up ACORN has been arrested by the FBI for having attempted to commit a felony. O'Keefe and two others, wearing telephone company uniforms, were busted last night for allegedly  wiretapping the phones in Senator Mary Landrieu's New Orleans office.

Landrieu said: "This is a very unusual situation and somewhat unsettling for me and my staff. The individuals responsible have been charged with entering federal property under false pretenses for the purposes of committing a felony. I am as interested as everyone else about their motives and purpose, which I hope will become clear as the investigation moves forward."

Brace yourselves folks as the list of Texas Republicans who honored James O'Keefe is quite long.  My U.S. House Rep. John Culberson is on the list.  Is your representative?  See the list below the fold.

In October Pete Olson (TX-22) had introduced the resolution in honor of Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe for their diligent investigative journalism exposing faudulent and potentially illegal activities of ACORN.

Rep. Pete Olson today introduced a resolution in honor of Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III for their diligent investigative journalism exposing the fraudulent and potentially illegal activities of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now or ACORN.

"Hannah and James should be applauded for their efforts to root out corruption and abuse of federal tax dollars," said Rep. Olson.  "Their actions resulted in the House and Senate taking decisive action to block tax dollars from going to an organization that has been under scrutiny for voter registration complaints, embezzlement of funds, and a disturbing tolerance for bogus tax evasion activities.  American taxpayers are already on the hook for too large a portion of their hard earned money.  The undercover investigation conducted by Hannah and James demonstrates the concern young people have with the tax burden being placed on them."

A Washington Times article today detailed facts related to $1 million in Homeland Security grant funding being awarded to ACORN instead of to the firefighter grant program in Louisiana after the House and Senate took action to cut off federal funds.

"Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III are setting an example for concerned citizens across America that we can hold those who receive taxpayer funds accountable and their actions should be commended," Olson concluded.

Hannah and James are certainly setting a shining example of what a Karl Rove, Tom Delay, Jack Abramoff, Duke Cunningham, Bob Ney, Dick Armey, Michael Scanlon and Tricky Dick Nixon Republicans are made of.  That would be the dirty tricks and criminal wing of the GOP.

No wonder the teabagger Republicans are so very angry.

Wow, a shorter list (4.00 / 2)
would be what Tx Republicans in Congress DIDN'T worship this criminal's previous scam.

Anybody?

But then there's this... (0.00 / 0)
...does this take away from the ACORN crap that was uncovered by him and his crew?  No.  We need more of this, however we'll have to see if this current situation is "really" criminal.  And how about Landrieu being bought off??

Landrieu? (0.00 / 0)
So, Mary Landrieu broke into her own office, property of the federal government, while wearing a telephone repairman's uniform.  She attempted to wiretap her federally owned telephones?

Sorry but the Rovian playbook of scorched earth politics is passe.

It is funny how conservatives will label a potential felony as a mere prank when one of their own has been caught committing a felony.

The spineless cowards will say

I did nothing wrong.

When he/she did everything wrong.

If anyone has been bought off it is the poor, pathetic and self-serving James O'Keefe who has been manipulated and used by deep pocketed right wing kingpins. (Rove, Scaife, Inc.)

I'd say poor James, but then there are so many 25 year old Americans who serve in the military and are currently in Iraq and Afghanistan. Other 25 year old adults are lucky enough to have real jobs and real responsibilities.  Others are taking care of their parents, or they have volunteered in Haiti or in the AmerCorps/Vista program.

Meanwhile, back at the Karl Rove training camp for war evading cowardly punks, the morally bankrupted O'Keefe seriously overestimated his expertise.

O'Keefe is a mere salaried tool of the dirty tricks and criminal wing of the Republican Party.

Read the post again (0.00 / 0)
I don't know, WE don't know, the extent of O'Keefe's guilt until after the trial.  But as I wrote, this is apart from what was uncovered on tape regarding ACORN and their questionable practices.

My Landrieu comment was also apart from O'Keefe.  Most agree, along with many Democrats, that her vote swing AFTER being promised major money for her state was pathetic.

You stated bribery (0.00 / 0)
which is a crime-and that has not been proved-so using your own standards that conclusion is unwarranted.

Does political dealmaking often reek to high heaven?  Absolutely.

Heat should definitely come against those dealmakers from US-but if you're gonna allege a crime, better have more than James O'Keefe running an illegal wiretapping scheme to back it up.

Republicans have a double standard (0.00 / 0)
When Republicans pull the same stunt as Landrieu it is called horsetrading.  When Democrats do the same, Republicans call it bribery.

If we go over the horse trading deals made over the last 20 years, I'd say a lot of horse trading and/or bribery has taken place in Congress and much of it has come from the right side of the aisle.  After Tom Delay left office in disgrace b/c of his ethical misconduct, many of his constituents whined about the loss of federal money The Hammer could bring to his district.  While voters in Sugar Land bellyached residents in other districts cheered.

The process certainly is not a fair one.

As far as James O'Keefe is concerned, the judge ordered the 25 year old to live with his parents until the preliminary hearing. It is unclear where O'Keefe lived at the time he broke into Landrieu's office so the judge must have felt compelled to put him into time out at mommy and daddy's where it would be hard for junior to run away.

So when Ted Haggard (4.00 / 1)
went with a prostitute and used drugs, did that take away from the good works done by churches?

Those folks got canned-but it doesn't mean ACORN's mission is suspect.
