TAKE TEXAS BACK!
A bunch of thieves, thugs, and nutcases took over Texas. Then they used it as a stepping stone to Washington, DC.

They raided our treasury, stripped our schools and handed it all to their corporate cronies.

Y'all ready to do something about it?

Dan Grant (TX-10): 'Call McCaul'

by: DanGrant

Tue Oct 16, 2007 at 15:04:21 PM CDT

(Let's use the chance to remind Mike McCaul that he isn't supposed to be representing Clear Channel-he's supposed to be representing us. - promoted by boadicea)

The U.S. House Thursday is scheduled to vote on whether to override the President's controversial veto of the bi-partisan State Children's Health Insurance Program.  Rep. Mike McCaul should vote to provide more than 1.4 million uninsured Texas children the health care they need.

Unfortunately, McCaul voted against uninsured kids and for insurance industry special interests the first round.  Will he find the moral courage to do the right thing today?  Will he finally make Texas priorities his priorities?

DanGrant :: Dan Grant (TX-10): 'Call McCaul'
You can help by calling Rep. McCaul's Capitol Hill office at 202-225-2401 and asking him to vote for nearly 1.5 million eligible children of working parents who deserve the same health insurance taxpayers give him.

Last week, Rep. McCaul was quick to hand out a congressional certificate of recognition to an Austin woman honored as one of 18 child care providers across the country at the first annual National

Child Care Provider Awards.  She deserved it. Now it's time for McCaul to recognize that uninsured Texas kids deserve his attention, too.

Call McCaul today and tell him to vote to override the Bush-Cheney veto.

Dan will speak at Keep Austin Blue (4.00 / 3)
This Thursday, at Mother Egan's.  I think the social portion of the evening is at 6:30, with speechifying at 7:15-ish.

I hear it will be the Best. Meetup. Ever.

See Keep Austin Blue for more details.

We have to become the leaders we seek.

With Dan "the man" Grant There... (4.00 / 2)
...how could it not be?!?

*wishing austin wasn't 70 miles away*

While I agree... (4.00 / 2)
I'm sure Dan wouldn't take personal credit for that.  It's a fairly tongue-in-cheek comment that KAB makes in each and every announcement e-mail.

It's part of what I like about the group.  Humor is a welcome relief.

I can't blame you for not hauling in from 70 miles out, though.  It's not *that* much of a relief.

We have to become the leaders we seek.

Call . . . (4.00 / 1)
Why?

IF, and I MEAN IF, he has a moment, just ONE, of common sense, and LISTENS to me and votes rationally- does THAT mean he should have my vote?

But he won't listen anyway, will he?

So why waste my time?

Because there are a lot of kids (4.00 / 3)
who will benefit if this long shot pays off.

We cannot win if we do not fight.

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.

False Optimism is not fighting (0.00 / 0)
I've done it and bought the T-shirt.

It simply wasted my time.

In fact, if nothing else, I have helped them gauge the opposition.  In that way, it is counter-productive and I am HURTING a lot of kids.

If I am wrong, please quote me an example, or, logically, show how I am wrong- how we can chart our course with McCaul at the helm.

To me, we fight- on our two legs- not with bended knee to these scoundrels.

[ Parent ]
Logic is not the remedy with McCaul (4.00 / 1)
If it were, we wouldn't have to argue the point at all.

The remedy is simple, grinding repetition. It's coming from angles expected, and unexpected.

Overturning this veto was a long shot.  But this is only one round in a long campaign to return our government to responsible hands.

That is the fight we fight. Every day. S-Chip, FISA, Mukasey, Hans the Voter Suppression expert, there are no shortage of opportunities to poke and harass little Mikey.

Things didn't get this bad with one vote. They won't be remedied with any one particular vote.

It doesn't have to be always the same people, so if you want to take a pass next round, do so.

But come back when you're refreshed. Because every action or inaction moves us to the outcome.

And they're counting on us to quit before we get there.

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.

I ain't quittin' (4.00 / 1)
Ain't never goin' to, far as my eye can see.

[ Parent ]
I understand the frustration (4.00 / 3)
And I have asked myself the same questions (though I don't think there is honestly anything that McCaul can do to earn my vote).

It's in the expression of this frustration that we inspire each other.

And if nothing else, I can say that I did something, even if I wasn't effective.  Yeah, the forehead is getting a little bloodied from banging it on the brick wall, but folks like I find at Texas Kaos are the salve for the hurt.

We have to become the leaders we seek.

For the kids (4.00 / 4)
Boadicea is absolutely right:  Call for the kids.  I know Dan's post inspired me to email my Rep.  It would be great if there was enough people contacting their reps that these kids got coverage!  Thanks boadicea.

Thank you. (4.00 / 1)
I'm continuously inspired by the creative and sincere efforts being made by the members of the Texas Kaos community.

Y'all RAWK!!!

Before you win, you have to fight. Come fight along with us at TexasKaos.
