TAKE TEXAS BACK!
A bunch of thieves, thugs, and nutcases took over Texas. Then they used it as a stepping stone to Washington, DC.

They raided our treasury, stripped our schools and handed it all to their corporate cronies.

Y'all ready to do something about it?

The Big Sarah Palin Lie: [Natural Gas is the] "Clean, Green Energy"

by: TXsharon

This lie burns me up!  There is nothing clean or green about natural gas!

*******************************************
Myth Busting: Methane, Worst of the Greenhouse Gasses, Caused by "The Cleaner Fuel."

*******************************************

Have a look:

Researchers find 'acute problems with toxic emissions'
Experts at the University of Colorado School of Public Health's Department of Environmental and Occupational Health completed a review of hundreds of published, peer-reviewed scientific articles to examine what is known concerning the health effects of oil and gas drilling and production on neighboring communities. They also reviewed available empirical data regarding communities in western Colorado. They found that the many hazardous chemicals being used and produced pose a potential health risk for local residents, and recommend a thorough health impact assessment before future expansion of oil and gas activities. Their findings are detailed in these two papers. This work received partial financial support from the Natural Resources Defense Council.

TXsharon :: The Big Sarah Palin Lie: [Natural Gas is the] "Clean, Green Energy"

In another study:
1) According to SMU engineering professor Dr. Al Armendariz, emissions from gas drilling operations in the north Texas region are twice the ozone forming pollution as all the cars in the nine-county ozone non-attainment area.

2) In summary: Experts at the University of Colorado School of Public Health's Department of Environmental and Occupational Health completed a review of hundreds of published, peer-reviewed scientific articles to examine what is known concerning the health effects of oil and gas drilling and production on neighboring communities. They also reviewed available empirical data regarding communities in western Colorado.

Gas Extraction Causes Ozone Alerts in Wyoming

Why is Wyoming, the least populated state in the US, having ozone alerts?

Controversial path to possible glut of natural gas

Water and chemicals injected at high pressure can extract more gas - and possibly pollute drinking water.

But some warn that by expanding "hydraulic fracturing" of shale, America strikes a Faustian bargain: It gains new energy reserves, but it consumes and quite possibly pollutes critical water resources.

"People need to understand that these are not your old-fashioned gas wells," says Tracy Carluccio, special projects director for Delaware Riverkeeper, a watchdog group worried about a surge in new gas drilling from New York to Pennsylvania and from Ohio to West Virginia. "This technology produces tremendous amounts of polluted water and uses dangerous chemicals in every single well that's developed."

The article above singles Texas out. I could go on endlessly but I don't have time. That's one reason the Republican Party gets away with their lies. They keep the middle class so beaten down that we don't have time to educate ourselves and fight back.

We can't let this meme stand!

You are truly amazing Txharon (4.00 / 2)
What a fantastic post.  You do environmental diaries better than anyone I know.  I wish you could be at the helm of the TCEQ.  We both know that toothless captured agency does nothing to protect Texas citizens health, water, air or property resources.  They're just whores for the industry.

What do we want Texans? - Cheap fuel to enrich the oil and gas fat cats - or clean air, water and land?

I say lets push for alternative energy and screw the oil and gas whores.

How could anyone believe (0.00 / 0)
anything from person who had to undergo a witch exorcism?
