Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC Hardball, recently charged that those of us in the Netroots are not real Democrats. Apparently we are a bunch of spoiled brats who fail to vote in every election and none of us ever runs for office. We are different. We are not grownups. We are a mere trouble makers who sit in the back seat, doing nothing but bitching and complaining.
Sure Chris. Whatever. I guess the thousands of college students who took semester leaves and the young professionals who took leaves of absences from their jobs to campaign for Obama are a bunch of do nothing bitching complainers. Not to mention others who block walked, canvassed, raised and donated boatloads of money. And let us not forget about those who had no money but somehow, and God knows how, had managed to find more than a buck or two to pitch in. In certain areas of Houston, volunteers had canvassed areas in which houses were on the verge of near collapse from poverty and neglect. And yet the occupants stepped up and gave what little they could.
Shame on you, Chris Matthews. You live in a bubble that is completely detached from hardcore reality.
And Matthews had waxed lyrical if not almost lustful about W. Matthews must have a few too many with Karl Rove.
"We're proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who's physical, who's not a complicated guy like Clinton or even like Dukakis or Mondale, all those guys, McGovern. They want a guy who's president. Women like a guy who's president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It's simple. We're not like the Brits."
when W. ginned up his dumb and irresponsible war in Iraq.
So much for professional journalism and integrity.
The Netroots, of course, fought back. I guess Matthews is outraged now that the not real and back seat bitching Democrats are frequent invited guests on cable TV political news shows.
We are making great strides, but we must keep up the pressure. On all levels.
Governor Rick Perry must be blinded by arrogance to believe that he could actually shut down and cover up an investigation and no one would notice. A politician would also have to be completely overcome by an over sized ego to do so during a tough primary contest.
Last night on MSNBC's Hardball, Chris Matthews interviewed Samuel Bassett, former Texas Forensic Science Commission Officer about the Todd Willingham case.
OK so Perry did not like where this investigation was going and so, as only a dictator would do, he shut it down. And now we also know where the fake, self-serving "moderate" Kay Bailey Hutchison stands on barbaric medieval practices. We already know where she stands on ginned up wars and a deregulated Wall St. KBH voted with W. over 90% of the time. Princess Sparkle Pony may have made a brilliant tactical political move, at least according to Slater, but she also revealed her true colors as anything but moderate.
Earth to Perry: as hard as you spin, rail and cry, the execution of an innocent man on your watch ain't going away. And Kay, hell will freeze over before this liberal would ever in her dreams vote for the likes of you. You squarely belong in the deather box right there along with Dictator Perry and your beloved W. who is responsible for the deaths of over 100,000 Iraqis. For? Please do remind us.
Scott Cobb over at The Burnt Orange Report has been providing exhaustive and outstanding coverage of this issue. Please click on the link to see how you can get involved with ongoing efforts to abolish the death penalty. Now that we know Texas has executed an innocent man, never has the case been stronger to eliminate this barbaric medieval practice.
This morning in the Houston Chronicle, Lisa Falkenberg wrote a sobering commentary about Rick Perry and the Todd Willingham execution.
Perry made a jackass of himself once again by talking about the non-existent notion of secession. Former bug guy, crook and now Mr. Dancing Pants Tom Delay stepped up to defend his soul mate in funny farm jackassery.
All hat no head indeed.
This video clip covers three of the biggest right wing lunatics on the planet.
I'd like to remind Mr. Big Government Hating Dancing Pants that his ol' nearby neighborhood, Houston, now boasts the highest number of teenage Moms under 15.
I bet Jackass the Governor is so very pleased to know that the right wing abstinence program is a resounding success.
Mr. Dancing Pants and his jackass buddy might also be proud to know that under their watch Texas killed(s) innocent prisoners.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews plays Hardball with John Campbell, a member of the looney tunes wing of the Republican Party.
Jeeze oh Pete. Between this and their sick and sinister prayer house of sin in D.C., not to mention their inability to properly represent the people in their districts, Republicans seem to be having a little ol' Waterloo of their own.
I could not believe my eyes this morning when I turned on MSNBC's Morning Joe and saw Chris Matthews tearing into Joe Scarborough on national health care reform. The exchange was music to my ears. In essence Matthews tore off the mask of the right wing. He completely dismantled their rationale for opposing government run health care. He shows us how Joe Scarborough and other right wing Republicans are merely parroting big insurance's talking points.
The exchange is captured on You Tube and posted over at Daily Kos.
According to Gail Collins of the New York Times (see below) Rick Perry and other Republicans are behaving like gerbils that just bit an electric wire.
I don't think anyone could have said it better. Ms. Collins is absolutely right and she is not the only one who thinks so.
The words "looney talk" "nuts" and "whacko world" are the terms used by Hardball's Chris Matthews when he refers to Rick Perry and Tom Delay's views on secession and state sovereignty.
I watched the U.S. Senate debate on the stimulus package on and off on Saturday. Bored, frustrated and disgusted, I finally had enough. I've seen this old washed up rerun before. It has been playing in a crumbling 50-year-old movie house that should have been condemned a very long time ago. As if in a black and white movie with scratched and uneven sound, the Republicans, bad actors that they are, droned on and on, spouting their old failed ideologies and dark aged policies. The Party is mired in centuries old mindsets and technologies and it seems unable or unwilling to see or move past the mid 20th Century.
Where energy is concerned Republicans want to continue to drill for an economically and globally volatile and finite resource. It should be glaringly apparent, thank you, that we needed to develop new, less finite and green energy resources, e.g. capture it from the wind and sun, at least 30 years ago. Somehow Republicans forgot about the 1973 energy crisis and oil embargo. They obviously fail to recall the long lines at the gas stations.
The Republican whacko trickle down economics does not work and yet Republicans continue to consult its 101 textbook. The reality of the trickle down voodoo magic that failed during the Reagan Administration and has proved a catastrophe under W., is now on a rampage, wielding a devastating wrecking ball throughout the U.S., and other countries, too, destroying jobs, homes and retirement accounts 24/7. 600,000 jobs were lost last month alone. There is no is in sight for the relentless wrecking machine. It is on an almost unstoppable and insatiable roll.
(I suck. I really, really do. Libby has graciously agreed to join us regularly on the TK front page. I'm very excited by this addition to our staff of writers, and thank her for her patience with my sluggish updating of her profiles.
It seems that some of these naughty, nasty boys charged their palling-around-with-call-girl activities on their corporate credit cards.
Uh oh. Are these guys still in charge of their businesses? Are they the ones who received the bailout money?
The scandal may have happened pre-TARP, but this kind of behavior should make us wonder about what kinds of scumbags and whackos we have bailed out.
According to Raw Story and ABC News today these boys used a $2,000 per hour call girl service where the "firm's" Madam disguised the charges as business related, e.g. "computer consulting, "roofing construction," etc.
Kristin Davis, the madam in question, went public to ABC News this week; ABC will be broadcasting her interview Friday at 10 pm. Davis says she has a list of 9,800 clients, many of whom she says New York prosecutors deliberately avoided when taking her case, even though she offered them her annotated client list.
In what's sure to create a media firestorm parallel to that of when a Washington, DC madam announced that she was publishing her client list (which included at least one senator), Davis' comments come at a time where incredible ire is already focused on Wall Street and banking executives. The pressure for her to release the list will certainly be immense.
For the last few weeks we have been listening to wall-to-wall coverage 24/7 about the flamboyant governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, and pay-to-play politics. As we all know by now the Illinois governor is charged with criminal conspiracy for attempting to sell President Elect Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat. Rod Blagojevich is clearly another crooked and arrogant politician who thinks he is above the law. But at least this one found himself impeached by the Illinois House.
It is nice to know some states have lawmakers who have an ethical spine where such blatant corruption and beyond the pale pay-to-play politics are concerned. Too bad Texas is sorely lacking in this area. But one has to remember the Party that is running the state at this time, although not all Democratic politicians would receive A's in ethics and integrity departments either.
When the Blagojevich scandal broke, several of the cable TV talking heads and pundits appeared especially outraged by pay-to-play politics and so I promptly sent off an email to MSNBC and CNN and suggested that if they are so livid about pay-to-play, they ought to send their research staff down to Texas to see how it works in a state where purchasing elections and pay-to-play is business du jour. Apparently other folks from around the U.S. contacted the media with the same request. Chris Matthews of Hardball responded with a chart that listed the most offending states. Texas is among them.
They did it again. MSNBC sent me straight into orbit. This morning Joe Scarborough became the apologist for MSNBC and its love affair with Ann Coulter. He defended his station’s coverage of the sack of garbage and tried to compare the sick sack’s comments with some of those of Bill Maher. Yes, that is how desperate MSNBC is getting. Hopefully MSNBC is getting hammered to smithereens by people like us for giving a sick twisted hate talker 60 minutes of precious air time.
Every time MSNBC or any major TV station gives the likes of Coulter coverage it provides the right wing attack machine with a powerful tool to continue to spread its hate, vicious lies and irrational disinformation to a vast number of the American people. MSNBC is willfully aiding and abetting the Rovian plot to distract us from the horrors of the Bush Administration by changing the subject to emotionally charged trash talk.
I am stunned beyond belief that Chris Matthews would give air time to Ann Coulter and help her spread her vileness across the national air waves. Ann Coutler's voice is not one that should be given airtime. Her message of hate and intolerance needs to be squashed.
