TAKE TEXAS BACK!
A bunch of thieves, thugs, and nutcases took over Texas. Then they used it as a stepping stone to Washington, DC.

They raided our treasury, stripped our schools and handed it all to their corporate cronies.

Hypocrite Watch: Senator Hutchison Smears Stimulus But Supports It

by: Libby Shaw

Wed Feb 10, 2010 at 20:06:55 PM CST

Kay Bailey Hutchison joins the vast majority of her Republican colleagues in Washington in the GOP Hall of Hypocritical and Cowardly Shame.

Many Republicans voted for the stimulus bill and now they trash it day in and day out, at least when they are in Washington.

And yet when Republican lawmakers visit their home districts, all take credit for the projects and jobs that the stimulus bill made possible.  In Texas we received:

1148 contracts: $1,178,584,964=1,398,97 jobs.

8852 grants:
$11,229,522,199=27,057,60 jobs.

Loan: (partially because Governor Perry refused to accept extended federal unemployment benefits)
$25,517,309.  What were you thinking, Governor?

So, Senator Hutchison, given your stance on the evil doing stimulus package in Washington, do you suggest that Texas send the above back?

Rachel Maddow: Pin the Debt on the Donkey

by: Libby Shaw

Fri Jan 29, 2010 at 15:06:05 PM CST

From what we hear from Fox "News," reporters in the mainstream media and from numerous cable TV pundits, one would think the Democratic Party is solely responsible for racking up monumental deficits since Ronald Reagan.

As we have learned over the years since the W. Administration, when Republicans and their partisan go to hacks in the media scream, rant, rave and throw tantrums about something, it means:

1. They've already done it themselves.

2. They are in the act of doing it.

3. They intend to do it in the near future.

Who would have thought?  St. Ronnie is the one who is responsible for a deficit of epic proportions.

Rachel Maddow Busts Republicans for Cowardice, Hypocrisy and Lies

by: Libby Shaw

Thu Dec 31, 2009 at 11:14:08 AM CST

While the irresponsible and cowardly Republicans work 24/7 in complete overdrive to paint Democrats as weak on national security (despite the fact that 9/11 happened on their watch, as did the anthrax attacks as well as the shoe bomber), Rachel Maddow and others in the mainstream media have a different and more honest story to tell.

Let's see what the incompetent lying hypocrites have to say for themselves now, aside from their usual and predictable tactic of raising boatloads of cash by fomenting fear, hate and lies.

Sitting on their fat cowardly asses indeed.

So much for Republican non existent patriotism.

As I recall the Republicans compromised our national security and safety in the 1990s b/c the GOP, especially the right wing, had been pathologically fixated on the impeachment of President Bill Clinton for consensual sex.

Meanwhile, back in the caves in Afghanistan,  Osama bin Laden plotted his heinous 9/11 attack against the U.S.

W. ignored the warnings in late 2000. He and Cheney had other fish to fry.

Dehumanizing Women and Children While Striving for a God Led Government

by: Libby Shaw

Thu Nov 12, 2009 at 20:27:58 PM CST

When I learn of the appalling and pervasive corruption that has overtaken our state and U.S. government, not to mention our society,  I have to admit that I feel as if I've been punched in the gut and kicked really hard in the butt.

Just when we think we've heard the absolute worst of the very worst, inevitably something even more awful will emerge.

The recent exposure of the Bush Administration's pervasive corruption, the Bush Administration's lies, the ginned up war in Iraq, Halliburton's criminal overcharges, Blackwater that prides itself on offing innocent Iraqis, and its bribes to the Iraqi government to buy silence, the deregulated banks, sub prime loans, Wall. St. and its U.S. government enabled reckless gambling casinos, at taxpayer peril, thank you, the discovery of FOX News as the undeniable propaganda arm for the GOP, the self-serving teabagging front groups that pretend to be grassroots movements that use and abuse well-meaning and misled teabaggers, and on and on...It is enough to suck all of the breath out of my lungs.

What would St. Ronnie say if he knew?  Gee whiz, what happened!? Or, I know it all sounds terrible and really scary, but in the end, all of the above will be really good for the American people.  Trust me folks, there will be 25 chickens in every pot next year and a pony in every back yard.  Be patient.  Work harder. You don't have a job? You are not working hard enough, you lazy, shiftless bum!  Go to the mall. Buy a house full of garbage you don't need. Just be happy and all of of our troubles will disappear.

But the grand old actor wizard and the master of deep deception has long since departed.  And there is no St. Ronnie today who can sugar coat the awful and the scary.

What truly sends chills down my spine this time is the discovery that a group of Christian Republicans and Democratic U.S. lawmakers, thank you, seem to be on a crusade to turn our U.S. government into one that is "led by God."

Why does this imperative remind me somehow of the Taliban and the so-called God run governments Iran and Saudi Arabia?

It all starts with pro-slavery driven and unfettered corporate imperatives.

Greed is the root of all evil.

Why Moderates Are Being Run out of the GOP

by: Libby Shaw

Mon Nov 02, 2009 at 18:08:01 PM CST

Liz Cheney, whose father served as one of the architects of two wars, one of which is unnecessary and which has broken us in terms of blood and treasure, and her father, who had also received five deferments during the Vietnam War, attacked President Obama for greeting our fallen soldiers at the Dover Air Force Base.

Only a Republican could turn a respectful and well-meaning Presidential act into an inappropriate or self-serving one.

How low can they go?  Apparently the pit is bottomless, as readers will see later in the post.

Veterans over at Daily Kos have much to say about Liz Cheney and her father.

Grab a Mop

by: Libby Shaw

Fri Oct 16, 2009 at 17:50:20 PM CDT

This President rocks.  It's daunting to think about how many warehouses of socialist mops and vats of extra strength socialist Lysol we'll need to clean up Republican Texas.

Aside from the need for socialist mops, the really good news today is that it looks like we are getting closer to HCR that includes a public option. We have the AHIP (American Health Insurance Plans) to thank for this.  According to Paul Krugman of the New York Times AHIP's threat to increase rates b/c it didn't like the Baucus bill backfired.

A Hatchet Job So Bad It's Good

It seems that a bunch of selfish greed mongering fat cats had become so desperate and crazed by the mere thought of losing one penny that the fat cats blew up the very building they were protecting.

Shall we cry 'em a river folks?

I didn't think so.

Meanwhile, there were other pressing developments today in the U.N and in the U.S. Congress:

Big thanks to the 44 Diaries for sharing this with us.

The Right's Jihad Against ACORN UPDATED

by: Libby Shaw

Fri Sep 25, 2009 at 17:30:55 PM CDT

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow gives us some straight talk about who is ginning up the ACORN witch hunt. As one can suspect, the usual right wing suspects are fanning the flames of a grossly exaggerated scandal.   It is really too bad that the pathetically lame, lazy and blatantly biased mainstream media is not as bright and as ethical as Maddow and other progressive TV anchors.

Part I:  Hint: pay attention to the clown acts in Congress and their "kill mode" go to sugar daddies.

Part 2: Check out the vile, criminal and um, ahem, the really ugly vodka swilling naked.  Warning: grab a barf bag before viewing.

The truly sad outcome of all of this is the de-funding of ACORN.  Ultimately, the Congress is punishing the folks who need the organization's services the most.  ACORN's evil deeds include finding affordable housing for folks; advocating for minimum wage increases, affordable loans, hospital services for veterans and, of course what conservatives hate the most, it registers voters.

"Billionaires For Wealthcare"

by: GreenApples

Wed Sep 16, 2009 at 08:50:19 AM CDT

(Wonder who the Texas members of the group are.  ;) - promoted by boadicea)

Never heard of them? Here's your chance.

A previous group, "Billionaires for Bush" (they were covered quite a lot during the last two elections) was started by a group of actors & artists who enjoy the challenge of playing the characters to the hilt, and love a little street theater. They were around NYC when I was there and I loved their antics. They have re-grouped and become "Billionaires For Wealthcare", pretending to be rich people and mix right in at right-wing rallys, with song, dance and signs, mocking winger positions with satire.

Watch Rachel's take.

Hate Socialism? So, Why Didn't Republicans Repeal Medicare?

by: Libby Shaw

Mon Aug 17, 2009 at 21:22:03 PM CDT

Today Republicans are running around the country like a bunch of chickens with their heads chopped off.  They are screaming and raving about socialism and death panels.  They are yelling about taking their country back.  The GOP is distributing scary flyers to fearful seniors and it is holding ginned up fear fests at town hall meetings at which some are showing up with guns, including assault rifles, as readers will see below.  Republican leader Rush Limbaugh and other propagandists for the RNC are frantically hurling barrels of gasoline on the orchestrated red hot fires of fear, mayhem and panic.

THE SOCIALISTS ARE COMING.  THE SOCIALIST ARE COMING.  THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE AWAY MEDICARE AND KILL YOUR GRANNY!  THEY TOOK AWAY OUR COUNTRY!

As MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell pointed out to TX-7 U.S. Rep Culberson, Medicare is evil doing socialism to its very core.  O'Donnell reminded Culberson that Medicare had been imported from Germany and was a creation of Bismark.

O'Donnell asked Culberson if he was against Medicare given the fact that it is socialism at its very finest.  Culberson did not like the question, or simply did not know the facts and responded by throwing a hissy fit on national TV.

Frank Schaeffer Calls Hatemongers Out

Frank Schaeffer, one of the architects of the pro life movement, has spent a lot of effort in the past years trying to undo the damage.

They Know What They Are Doing and They Like What They Do.

by: Libby Shaw

Sat Aug 08, 2009 at 21:10:43 PM CDT

It was so very naive and silly of me to suggest that the GOP should step up and take responsibility, as any adult would do, by calling a halt to the brown shirt shout downs at town hall meetings on healthcare reform.

Silly, silly me. That won't happen.  Never. Ever. Even if hell freezes over and the entire country is in the throes of death, the answer remains to be no, never, in your dreams, not even if hell freezes over.

Despite GOP cries for freedom, its flag waving, its  prominence of lapel wearing flag pins, its highly orchestrated scenarios of patriotism and noble words about freedom, the GOP's behavior has nothing to do with any of the principles mentioned above.

Actions speak louder than words.   Shouting down and shutting out the questions and opinions that fellow Americans want to ask and share with their elected representative is:

anti-democratic,

anti-patriotic and

anti-American.

When political rhetoric goes over the top, inaction by a party's leadership is the same as blind acquiescence.

According to former right wing Republican and evangelical Christian leader, Frank Schaeffer, the GOP, its conservative pundits and the self-serving corporate sharks in the healthcare industry know no bounds in pulling off what is best for them.

For right wing Republicans, conservative pundits, the corporate sharks and their now enabled fruit loop nut jobs, it is a fight to the death.

Republicans Stoke the Flames of Racism

by: Libby Shaw

Fri Aug 07, 2009 at 15:10:32 PM CDT

There are many ways in which the health care titans and their tools in the Republican Party manipulate and play upon the ignorance and fears of senior citizens and under-educated Americans.  Most of its targeted base is the most vulnerable. It is older folks who are sadly, the easiest prey for utterly evil sharks and profiteers. Next up are under-educated and low information Americans.  These groups provide a solid anchor in the crumbling GOP base and these supporters also happen to be Rush Limbaugh's frequent listeners.

But there is a third group and this is the one that is the most sinister and dangerous. They are not old folks who are fearful about losing their Medicare benefits.  They are not the folks who are honestly confused about what health care reform will mean for them.  As Paul Krugman wrote in his article The Town Hall Mob today.

Now, people who don't know that Medicare is a government program probably aren't reacting to what President Obama is actually proposing. They may believe some of the disinformation opponents of health care reform are spreading, like the claim that the Obama plan will lead to euthanasia for the elderly. (That particular claim is coming straight from House Republican leaders.) But they're probably reacting less to what Mr. Obama is doing, or even to what they've heard about what he's doing, than to who he is.

That is, the driving force behind the town hall mobs is probably the same cultural and racial anxiety that's behind the "birther" movement, which denies Mr. Obama's citizenship. Senator Dick Durbin has suggested that the birthers and the health care protesters are one and the same; we don't know how many of the protesters are birthers, but it wouldn't be surprising if it's a substantial fraction.

And cynical political operators are exploiting that anxiety to further the economic interests of their backers.

Does this sound familiar? It should: it's a strategy that has played a central role in American politics ever since Richard Nixon realized that he could advance Republican fortunes by appealing to the racial fears of working-class whites.

Indeed, this is the group of folks who despise President Obama and everything he stands for. They are the ones who attended Palin's hate fests in droves. They are the ones who screamed "Kill Him!" and "Arab!" at Palin's potential lynch mob scenes. These very same sick and twisted cretins listen to every hateful word spewed from the mouths of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and other hate mongers on the right.

The crazed racists made their forceful presence known at a town hall in Tampa yesterday.

The Unspeakable: Republican 'Kill Granny' Campaign of Terror

by: Libby Shaw

Sat Aug 01, 2009 at 16:48:08 PM CDT

Just when you think the Republicans and their love mates in big insurance and pharma have sunk to the lowest hole in a snake pit, they manage to creep into an even deeper one.   Their latest stunt goes beyond the pale in much the same fashion as the GOP did in the Terri Schiavo case.    But the Schiavo incident was child's play when compared to the cruel and sinister stuff Republicans and their love mates are up to today.

In a recent multi-million dollar PR campaign to kill off health care reform, insurance companies, special interest groups and Republicans are lying to and scaring the daylights out of senior citizens in the most appalling manner.   The self-serving, unconscionable and greedy ghouls are telling older folks that health care reform will literally kill them.  They will be euthanized, or they will be required to have five- year medical reviews that could result in death sentences.

I am not making this up or telling a really sick and inappropriate joke.  This ruthless fear and smear campaign is happening while I type.  And, as I mentioned in a diary posted below, Republicans in Congress are completely on board with this beyond the pale campaign of terror against senior citizens.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow has revealed much about the despicable "deather" movement.

Whacko Watch: Kay Quits But Doesn't

by: Libby Shaw

Thu Jul 30, 2009 at 12:52:33 PM CDT

It seems that the senior Senator from Texas wants Governor Perry to quit his job so she can keep her Senate seat while running for his post.   Kay Bailey Hutchison wants to hang on to her Senate seat so she can obstruct health care reform and vote against Sonia Sotomayor.

The Rick and Kay competition is heating up to a   bar room brawl level as Rick threatens to throw stuff at Kay.  Stuff like moving up the date for a special election because "too many important things are going on in Washington." That and Kay's pulling a Palin is very "irresponsible."

It's funny how these big government, health care reform and Sotomayor loathing politicians sure enjoy their cushy tax payer funded government jobs with Lexus level health care.  And our big government, welfare hating governor sure enjoys his tax payer funded free housing that includes a staff of domestic servants to take care of his and his wife's creature comforts.

You know folks, it must be even hotter in Washington DC these days than it has been in Houston because based on some of our Republican lawmakers behaviors of late I am beginning to think many of them are suffering from heat stroke of the brain.  Or perhaps heat stroke of one's personal honesty, integrity and courage would be a more accurate description.

YES to a Ginned Up War. YES to Bailouts. NO to Health Care for Americans

by: Libby Shaw

Tue Jul 21, 2009 at 13:01:53 PM CDT

Not to mention YES to affordable health care benefits for members of Congress.

So, it was OK to vote to burn billions if not trillions on a ginned up war. It was OK to vote for trillions in bailouts for a bunch of thieving financial crooks and sharks. Now these very same sharks are earning billions and giving themselves fat bonuses again.  Hopefully someone bothered to ask them to pay back the bail out bucks.

Our tax dollars are paying for all of the above including BMW level health care insurance for members of Congress.  If John McCain had to find his own health care insurance company, like so many other Americans, he would be turned down because of pre-existing conditions.   If he would be lucky enough to find a willing provider,  McCain would be out of pocket thousands of dollars for or bankrupted by treatments desperately needed but not covered or flat out denied by his plan.

Why are we paying for top notch care for our esteemed lawmakers when many of them are against the same for us?   If they say no to us, we should say no to them and demand that the federal government rescind all taxpayer funded health care coverage for members of Congress.  Let our revered leaders buy their own freaking insurance like a vast number of Americans have to do.  Some may learn they cannot afford to pay for it and college tuition for their kids.

Washington's Religious Boardinghouse for Unholy Holies

by: Libby Shaw

Mon Jul 20, 2009 at 13:59:33 PM CDT

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow recently reported on a Christian boardinghouse in Washington that serves as a dorm, meeting and praying place for conservative Christian Republican politicians.  But it seems that the occupants and members of this prayer house are busy doing a lot more than praying.  According to Maddow's reports, the religious boardinghouse is also a safe haven for adulterers.   But this is not the only unholy activity that has pervaded this so-called Christian establishment.  According to a separate report written by Gail Collins of The New York Times the founder of the religious group that owns the boardinghouse had organized a movement of those who were united against President Roosevelt's New Deal during the Great Depression.

Does this sound remotely familiar?

GOP War Hawk Sissy Boys Blame Torture on the D Girl

by: Libby Shaw

Sat May 16, 2009 at 17:54:40 PM CDT

According to the some of the renowned Viet Nam War draft evaders and right wing war hawks

Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Pat Buchanan, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, Bill Kristol, Bill Blunt, Tom Delay, Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Phil Gramm, John Cornyn, Trent Lott, Mitch McConnell, Paul Wolfowitz,  Bill O'Reilly, Michael Savage

Nancy Pelosi personally ordered the CIA to find a link between Iraq and Al-Qaida.  The GOP sissy boys also insist that when no links between the two evil doers could be found, Nancy the D Girl unilaterally ordered heinous torture to bring about the results the sissy boy cowards needed to gin up their war on Iraq.

Hats off to Ed Shultz of MSNBC for calling the Sissy Boys out for their psycho babble.
